WiW: Week 80

Hmm, I ate less than usual last night and woke up a pound heavier.

And I'm still ridiculously sickly. Stupid cold.

We're still moving though. In spite of the cold, I managed to pick up the pace on Monday to somewhere approaching my usual. This running as part of a group is hard, since not everyone is at the same place training yet, and not everyone runs the same speed, even when we can make the same distance.

I've started doing a few sit-ups and pushups in the hopes that I won't be so ridiculously sore when I start Shredding again.

Not sure what happened, but I forgot to post this. Actually, I forgot to write it.

The good news: I'm back to running. And my crew is with me.

The bad news: We're really slow.

Hey, at least we're moving!

Smoke magnet

Jamie had another meet this weekend (The 4th! In 4 weekends! I need a nap!), and this one was technically local, but a little farther away than the first 3. On top of that, it was one of those 8am meets, where we have to be there at 7:30, and it takes almost an hour for me to get Jamie ready, and before that I have to get ready, and then there's the drive and the potential for getting lost.

We decided the extra hour-ish of sleep would be worth the money and opted for a hotel room a couple miles from the venue.

Things were woking out pretty well. Owen insisted that he and Rex sleep on the pull-out couch in the living room of the suite, the girls were sharing one of the beds in the bedroom, and I got the other one all to myself. Sure, we all had to go to bed at the same time (8!), but we were all going to want that extra sleep anyway, right?

The girls dropped off with only a few threats, but Owen was up a lot coughing, and according to Rex, shoving his feet in his back. I didn't do much more than doze off and on, but as long as the star athlete was out cold it was all good.

And then around 4am, the fire alarm started strobing and making an irritating (although oddly, not ear piercing) sound. I waited a minute to see if more direction was forthcoming, and then decided safe was better than crispy and woke up the girls. As I was shaking them, the lights stopped, then started back up again. We were just stepping out into the hallway when everything stopped again and stayed off.

It didn't take too terribly long for the kids to get back to sleep, but I was up for a while, listening for sirens, waiting for another alarm, and stewing over the fact that we went to a lot of trouble and expense to get not one bit more sleep that we would have if we had just stayed home.
