This is the last WiW of 2010!

I have no idea what's been happening, but I'm finally losing weight. The week of Christmas, when I skipped three workouts.

I'm not complaining, mind.

I Shredded yesterday, level 1 in deference to the three missed torture sessions. Today, I'm way more sore than I expected to be. I mean, jeez, it hadn't been that long!

Anyway, run today, probably run tomorrow because the weather turns cold again, Shred on Friday (not sure if I'll go with level 1 or 2. Depends on how much I hurt, I suppose.

Oh, and I've decided to register for the Warrior Dash. Motivation, you know.

On to 2011!

Unsuccessful

Today I've done several loads of laundry, cleaned up more of my office, gotten a library card, talked to a guy at the AT&T store, read and entire novel, made cakes with the kids, vacuumed, cleaned up puke and made a tasty dinner that used up more Christmas dinner leftovers.

What I didn't do was get the ornaments off the Christmas tree so it could go out to the curb in the morning, and somehow that leaves me feeling like I didn't do shit (and I feel fat. Probably unrelated to the tree, but really, who knows?)

And to all a good night

We had an awesome Christmas.

My mom, my dad, my brother and his girlfriend were all here to get up with the kids on Christmas morning.

To me, that's one of the most important parts of Christmas. It's not about the food, or the price, number or size of the gifts, it's about being together and seeing the looks on your loved ones face when they receive someone you thought long and hard about.

That being said, it was awesome to be able to pretty much blow the kids minds with gifts. It helps that they have simple wants for the most part, but we're also just incredibly lucky to have... Just to have, really.

Jamie in particular had all her dreams come true. Probably because she had the most well defined dreams. My dad got the girls each an iPod Touch, which they've drained at least once and sometimes twice a day since they opened them. Jamie got a pair of rollerblades, which she wore around the house all day. I thought she might try to take them to bed! She also got warmers, arm or leg depending on whether you believe Jamie or the packaging. Both girls were thrilled with all the books they got.

Owen. Owen got a ride-on 4 wheeler that he's been riding 10 feet forward and 10 feet backward in the living room for three days. He plays with our old Touch and is just as excited about it as if it were new. He just wants to do what the girls are doing.

And for me, well, I got a box, and a letter. Each had paper in it with pictures, and I get to choose which one I want. The choices? A Kindle and Garmin Forerunner, or an iPad. I'm totally going with the iPad!

All the wonderful has been wonderful, but I'm ready to get back to normal!

Well, I didn't manage three runs last week, but I did manage five workouts, so I guess it's still an improvement.

This week, I've manage two runs and a Shred, in spite of increased company. I'm pretty sure I'm done for the week, though, unless I can get half an hour alone (HA!) tomorrow. I've already decided to give myself Friday off for Christmas.

I think Shredding has actually changed my body shape some, although it hasn't been melting off any pounds. (That may have something to do with the good eatin' of the last week, too.)

My goal for the next week is to not fuck things up too bad.

Well, Friday's run didn't happen, but I did an extra Shred on Sunday to make up for it. This week, I decided to flip my workouts around because of cold and company, Shredding MWF and running TTH. Then I flipped things around again to take advantage of a warm front before it got cold again, so I ran tonight. The wind was absolutely nutso and I'm totally blaming my SLOWEST PACE EVER on it. I almost quit 10 times in the first 4 minutes, but I'm glad I stuck it out. I got all caught up in a daydream at the end and when snapped out of it, I wasn't miserable any more. I threw in an extra minute of running, just for fun! I don't think cutting back to two runs a week is doing me any good, and I'm sure bunching them together is even worse, but holy crap has it been cold outside. Two is better than none, right?

Now, can someone explain to me why running doesn't improve my Shred, and Shredding hasn't made running any easier? And while we're at it, how did one Chimichanga derail the last month of weight loss?

Twenty minute runs are still kicking my ass, but at least I'm doing them. And I'm doing them in spite of what I consider subarctic temperatures. I'm also still working Shreds in between runs and as hard as they are, at least I can function the day after without wobbling around like an old lady.

I'm also back to my low weight since I started this whole exercise thing, so I guess it's a good week.

Santa 2010

We've never really made any effort to take the kids to see Santa. It was never a tradition that meant much to me, and I didn't see much point in standing in line with a cranky kid who would likely bury herself in my neck when we finally got to the front of the line.

That being said, I seem to have an awful lot of pictures of my kids with various Santas. We seem to come across one or two each year just in the natural course of things. It still surprises me every time my kids (particularly whoever is youngest at the time. My kids always start out shy.) walk right up to Santa and sit on his lap like he's family. It can be a little harder to get them to speak up, but considering Owen still randomly tries to crawl up my butt around people he's known for years, I'll take it.

This year was no exception. We were the first people at our HOA Christmas Party again this year, and Owen didn't even wait to be asked. As soon as he walked into the clubhouse and saw Santa, he knew what to do. He even spoke up and told him he wanted a bear. The girls wrote letters again, with Katie asking for Littlest Pet Shops, and Jamie requesting an ornament with Santa's picture on it, Littlest Pet Shops and damn, I can't remember the third thing (I asked: Armwarmers. You know, like legwarmers, but for you arms.) Good thing I'm done shopping for her.

Merry Christmas, y'all!
