4.9: Strike a pose
We picked up a couple delicious truffles at a chocolate shop on Fisherman's Wharf, planning to eat them while we watched the pile of sea lions we had heard about. We ran into this guy swimming around on his own, first, so we paused to take a few (fine, probably hundreds) of pictures. He jumped out of the water onto the dock and sat in this pose for a few minutes, slid back into the water, and then came back and did it again. I'm sure there is some behavioral reason that that sea lion stayed in that position for so long, but the best I can come up with is a strong flair for the dramatic.
